COMFREY PLUS SALVE: This formula was developed as a general first-aid salve. The herbs selected are the best to my knowledge for aiding the skin's ability to heal. Comfrey (Symphyntum officinalis) is also known as knitbone and has the active ingredient alantoin. Chickweed (Stellaria media), also known as stichwort, is an emollient and refrigerant. Plantain (Plantago Major), is an antiseptic astringent. Calendula (Calendula officinalis), also known as pot marigold, is a vulnerary. Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) and myrrh gum powder (Commiphora myrrh) both have antiseptic qualities. This special blend of ingredients is in a base of olive oil with locally produced bees wax.

echinacea

ECHINACEA PLUS TINCTURE: This alcohol-based tincture has both fresh five-year-old echinacea angustifolia and purpurea roots, the strongest of all echinaceas. These herbs stimulate the immune system. Yellowdock (Rumex crispus) is a tonic astringent. The roots of burdock (Articum lappa), an aperient, are known as blood purifiers. The dandelion (Taraxacum officinal) is a tonic, which means to restore, invigorate, and refresh, in this case, the liver. Its ability to cleanse toxins from the blood is important for optimum function and speedy recovery. The recommended dosage as a preventative is 20 drops of tincture per day for two weeks. Discontinue for one week, then begin a second two-week regime.

TOOTH & GUM POWDER: This formula is used for gum disease, receding gums and gingivitis. The goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) and myrrh gum (Commiphora myrrh) have disinfectant properties. Tincture of myrrh was used by dentists before they developed synthetic disinfectants. The cayenne is a tonic and the best natural stimulant for the circulatory system, speeding up circulation of the blood when the herb makes contact with the gums. Faster ciculation enables more blood to reach the area, which in turn brings the much-needed nutrients and minerals for healing the tissues in and around the teeth. Massaging and brushing the gums helps stimulate them. This procedure can be used as a preventative once a week. If the gums are too sore, a mouthwash can be made with 1/2 tsp. of the powder in hot water. Wait 20 minutes, cool and strain. This liquid can also be taken internally.
